1920s DELACO DEWITT LAFRANCE GOLD FILLED LINE AND BOX PATTERN FOUNTAIN PEN RESTORED

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this 1920s Gold Filled Fountain Pen produced by DeWitt-LaFrance (DeLaCo.) with flexible nib This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful operating and writing condition. This is a gold filled model with a box and lined pattern. The gold filled overlay is in fantastic condition with no evidence of brassing. The cap secures to the barrel tightly. The clip is a “rocker” type that is in excellent condition. The barrel is stamped with, “DELACO GOLD FILLED PAT. PEND.”. This DeLaCo measures 5″ in length capped and 6 1/4″ posted. I have ultrasonically cleaned the Fountain Pen NIB, section, and feed. Hand polished the cap, barrel, and 14K Nib. There is no brassing or wear to the cap or barrel. I replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized rubber sac. This DeLaCo has been disassembled, cleaned and inspected for any defects before reassembling. The filling lever moves freely – I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The 14K WARRANTED NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .61mm when measured with digital calipers. The NIB writes fairly smooth with a medium to double broad line/stroke. In the writing sample provided, this NIBs medium stroke measures roughly .63mm and flexes to a 1.61mm double broad stroke when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. DeWitt-LaFrance, the Cambridge, Massachusetts firm whose founder, David LaFrance, joined forces with William DeWitt and went on to manufacture the Superite and a host of other brands before the company was sold to Carters Ink Company in 1925. This DeLaCo Fountain Pen looks great in the hand. It is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection. I would consider this fountain pen to easily grade in Excellent Condition.
