Arne Jacobsens bordur blev oprindeligt udviklet i 1939 til elvareproducenten LK med en klassisk, enkel urskive. Men Jacobsen designede også en række andre ure heriblandt City Hall uret til Rødovre Rådhus. City Hall uret er elsket af danskerne for sit universelle udtryk, og derfor var det oplagt også at lave City Hall uret som bordur. Udover at være et dekorativt indslag overalt i hjemmet har uret de nødvendige vækkeursfunktioner til alarm, snooze og lys.
